A travel tip, a recipe, an event update — some stories are worth another look. Open a profile’s photo and video stories, browse the latest updates and save the ones you would like to revisit without signing in to Instagram.
Save photo stories as images and video stories as clips you can play later. When a profile has several stories, choose the ones you need and download each file separately. You can preview a photo or play a video before saving it.
Check the profile’s Highlights for stories the creator has kept. Not every past story will be there, and deleted stories cannot be recovered. If today’s stories are missing, try the steps for an empty result .

No new stories today? Take a look at the profile’s Highlights, Reels or posts. You can save those photos and videos too, or choose Photos when you only need still images.
The moment you are looking for might not be in today’s stories. Explore saved Highlights, short videos and photos from the profile’s posts.
Missed a story? It may still be in the profile’s Highlights. Explore the collections the creator has kept, from travel diaries to product tips, and download the photos or videos you would like to revisit. Highlights can still be available even when there are no new stories.
Choose Highlights and enter the profile’s username to open the saved stories.
View HighlightsFound a recipe, a tutorial or a place you would like to visit? Open a profile’s Reels, play a clip and save the video to your device. Reels are separate from Stories, so check here when the video you remember is not in the latest updates.
Choose Reels, open the video and tap Download to keep a copy.
View ReelsLooking for something shared as a regular post? Browse the profile’s feed photos and videos, then download the items you need. A post with several photos or clips may contain more than one file; you can choose the individual images or videos to save.
Choose Posts for photos and videos, or Photos for images only.
View PostsBrowse a profile’s photos without opening its videos. Preview an image, check that it is the one you need, then save a copy to your phone or computer. For an image shared as a story rather than a feed post, use the Stories option instead.
Choose Photos for feed images. For photo stories, switch to Stories .
View PhotosChoose Stories for the latest updates, Highlights for saved stories, or another option for content from the profile’s feed.

You do not have to create an Instagram account just to check a story. IG stories lets you open a public profile’s current photo and video updates using its username or profile link. You can browse the stories and save a file without signing in.
Enter the username of the person or brand whose stories you would like to see — not your own login details. A username works with or without @. You can also paste a profile link such as instagram.com/your.username/ when it is easier than typing.
Choose Stories for current updates or Highlights for collections the creator has kept. For a regular feed photo or video, try Posts . Switching options helps you find the right content without starting with a different tool.

Tap Download below a story, then find the saved photo or video in your downloads. The steps depend on your device.
Open the stories in Safari and tap Download below a photo or video. Check the Files app, usually in Downloads, for the saved file. It may not appear in Photos automatically; open the file and check the sharing options to save it there.
Tap Download under the story you want to keep. Open your browser’s Downloads list or the Downloads folder in your file manager. If you are asked where to save the file, choose a folder you can find again.
Click Download under a story. Your browser will save the file to its usual downloads folder or ask you to choose a location. Open the browser’s Downloads list to find the photo or video and check that it has finished saving.
Did the photo or video open in a new tab? Use your browser’s save or share option to keep a copy. If the download fails, reload the profile and try again. You can also check the download help .
A missing story does not always mean something is wrong. Check the message you see and try the steps below.
Try the story viewer againThe account may not have any active stories, or the stories may have expired or been deleted. Try Highlights for saved story collections, or Posts for photos and videos from the feed.
Check for missing dots, underscores or extra spaces. Use the username shown after @ rather than the person’s display name. If the account has changed its username, copy its current profile link and try that instead.
Stories from private accounts and Close Friends lists cannot be opened here. Entering a different link will not unlock them. Check that the profile you want to view is public; you do not need to share your password or any verification code.
Check your connection and give it a little time before trying again. If a waiting time is shown, let it finish before submitting the username again. Repeatedly pressing the button will not make the stories load sooner.
Check your connection, free storage and your browser’s Downloads list. Open the profile again and retry the download. If the story has been removed, it may no longer be available. For help finding a saved file, see the device guide .

No. IG stories works with content available without authentication. Private-account stories and Close Friends stories cannot be viewed or downloaded here. A username or profile link does not give access to stories shared with a limited audience.
The profile may have no active stories, its stories may have expired, or the username may be incorrect. Check the username first, then try again. You may still find saved stories in Highlights. See the loading help for other possible causes.
Only if a story is still available elsewhere, such as in the profile’s Highlights . IG stories cannot restore a deleted story or retrieve every story an account has ever shared. Check Highlights for the stories the creator has chosen to keep.
Stories are the profile’s temporary updates. Highlights are collections of stories the creator has kept on the profile. Choose Stories for current updates and Highlights to revisit those saved collections. Both can contain photos and videos you can download.
Yes. Paste the profile link, for example instagram.com/your.username/, or enter @your.username. Use the profile’s main link rather than a link to one post, Reel or story. Choose the content you need before pressing the view button.
Check your browser’s Downloads list. On iPhone or iPad, look in the Files app; on Android, try the Downloads folder in your file manager. On a computer, check the Downloads folder. See the device instructions if you cannot find the file.
Viewing may be temporarily limited when too many requests are made. Follow the waiting time shown, then try again. You do not need to keep pressing the button. If there is no waiting time, take a short break and check your connection before retrying.

You get the version of the photo or video that is available to download. Saving a file will not sharpen a blurry image or improve a low-resolution clip. Preview the story first to check how it looks before keeping a copy.
